Whenever I read sth in enlish, I do not perceive main idea or topics in the passage, but focus on the specific details information and grammatical component. Because I prepared for Korean SAT three times, I was trained to focus on specific component and grammar. I tried to change this tendancy, but it is really hard for me. So, I believe that I adapt top-down processing for improving my reading skills.
